The challenge

When Director of IT Brian Martinez began working at Metro Group, he knew only that the organization had a CMMS, but was unaware of what type of system it was or the benefit it could have. After becoming familiar with Metro Group’s implementation of ManagerPlus, Martinez realized the full scope of business impact that ManagerPlus's maintenance management software could generate for the organization. He continued by seeking out additional training and more comprehensive integration. This provided him with the unique opportunity to examine how Metro Group was using the system and to identify new ways of creating immediate value.

The problem? Although ManagerPlus was being used to maintain Metro Group’s metal recyclings assets—including forklifts, cranes, balers, shearing machines, skid loaders, and trailers—the system had already been in place for many years and employees had lost the institutional knowledge of all that ManagerPlus could offer. They were tracking work order statuses on their large asset portfolio, but they were missing out on the key insights that would help refine their processes, making them more efficient, preventive, and cost-saving.

The solution

By partnering with ManagerPlus, the team at Metro Group was able to assemble the right package that would suit everyone from vehicle operators to on-the-ground maintenance technicians. Teams also received training that helped them implement the system more effectively. These strategies brought significant visibility into Metro Group’s business intelligence and resulted in greatly improved performance across the board. The accuracy of tracked work orders sky-rocketed, and the number of costly reactive maintenance tasks dropped. Meanwhile, preventive maintenance increased, and the preventive maintenance completion rate rose to nearly 93%.

Revitalizing its efforts with ManagerPlus provided Metro Group with greater visibility and improved the accuracy of its asset management processes, leading to a number of efficiencies that ultimately
empowered its workforce to make strategic business decisions.

What they're saying

I have come to such an understanding of ManagerPlus and their development process that I have been able to answer and solve almost all questions from my team.

Training changed everything. We spent the day getting customized training for our database and it showed us then just how much is available.

Training is key and I can’t say enough how pivotal it was for my growth and also in the expansion of our use, including the additional plugins and user licenses we have invested in.

[After training] everyone knew where everything stood, and if they didn’t, they knew where to easily find the information.

[ManagerPlus] helps us stay on top of new work requests, work orders, and associated notes. We also have BI reports that summarize the new data daily as well.
